Best of luck to Oisin, Shane and Dean and all of the Leitrim Team as they take on Clare in the qualifiers on Saturday at 18:00, best of luck also to Ballinamore hurlers Paul and Fergal Early who will be action with the leitrim hurlers in the Lory Meagher final in Croke Pairc at 12:00. 

Well done to all the leitrim players and management from the 94 team that were celebrated at the Connacht final on Sunday, it was great to see the images of these great men who were celebrating 25 years since the historic victory, it was great also to reminisce and read the fantastic article by are own Tommy Conlon which brought memories of that great time flooding back, special thanks to them all. 

Reeling in the Years 

The club are running a “Reeling in the Years” Table Quiz in Priors @ High Street on Friday June 21st @ 9.30. 

The Quiz is being run to raise funds for our underage boys and girls teams. 

Funds raised will be used to buy necessary equipment for our teams and also cover some costs associated with hosting Feile on the weekend of June 28th. 

Your support would be really appreciated.

John West Feile 

Time is nearly upon us for the start of this years Connacht Feile with the first round of games to be played on Friday the 28th of June, the club will be hosting JK Brackens from Tipperary and Erin’s Own Castlecomer from Kilkenny. Hard luck to our u14 girls who were in action in the 13a final on Monday evening against St Brigids, the girls put up a great fight and were a credit to the mentors hopefully they can dust themselves down and get ready for Feile.

Hard luck to our u15 lads who lost out in the league final on Sunday morning, the lads put up a fantastic fight and were unfortunate to lose out at the end with the final score 1:11 to 4:07 . Special thanks to all the mentors and players who have done so well in this year campaign.

Leitrim Minor GAA 

Hard luck to the Leitrim Minor team after their defeat to Mayo on Friday evening, the lads put in a sterling effort but were unable to overcome a strong Mayo team. Special thanks to all the stewards that assisted us before, during and after. 

Communion

Senior League 

The weather was shining on Saturday evening in the Pairc as we took on the neighbours Aughawillan in our Dunnes Senior league game. There was a great crowd in attendance and they were treated to a thrilling match with both teams giving it all. The visitors shaded first half but our lads game back much stronger in the second half to cut the deficit and finally take the lead in the closing minutes of this pulsating game with most of the crowd in the stand up on their feet in the closing minutes cheering both teams on, the win that the Ballinamore crowd were cheering for was not to be and Aughawillan kicked the final point to level the score in added time at the end with the final score Ballinamore 1:14 to Aughawillan 0:17. Next up for the lads is an away match against our other neighbours Aughnasheelin. 

School Finals 

Well done to both the girls and boys team on reaching their respective schools finals on Saturday, unfortunately both teams were beaten in the final but they certainly put up a great effort in two entertaining games

Macdiarmada Gaels U15 versus Mohill Thursday evening at 19:00 in Mohill. 

Dunness Bar Division one the lads take on Aughnasheelin on Sunday at 18:00 in Aughnasheelin. 

Under 13 

We are commencing training this Thursday at 7.30pm in Ballinamore. All players to attend. 

We are also entering an Under 12 team in the cross counties league taking place in June. We want players in their last year under 11 to join trading with the u13 squad in preparation. If you have a son of appropriate age please bring him along on Thursday.

On Sunday May 12th when Leitrim play Roscommon in the Connacht Championship in Hyde Park, Roscommon we are going to cycle the 40 odd miles from Ballinamore to Roscommon.

It is hoped that players, supporters, young and old will take part in what should be a great day’s craic.

It’s not a race and you travel at your own pace with groups travelling at various times on that Sunday morning.

Well done to our senior team who played their third league game and continued the good form making it 3 out of 3 with a good win against Annaduff, the lads won the match by a score of 1:18 to 1:06 Next up for the seniors is a match against the neighbours Aughawillian 

Our Division 4 lads were also in action at the weekend drawing against Leitrim Gaels with a score of 3:10 to 1:16 next up for thee lads is a match against Aughawillian on Sunday at 12:00 in Ballinamore. Our Division 3 lads will also be in action this weekend when they take on Melvin Gaels in the Pairc at 19:00 

Under 15 

Well done to a our u15 lads who started their campaign against Glencar Manor, in a tight game the lads played well securing the victory by a score of 5:9 to 5:6

The Presentation of Medals for the DIV 2 Champions took place at the weekend in Priors @ High St., thanks to all the girls who put in a tremendous performance to win the Championship and thoroughly deserved their night, special thanks as ever to Gay and Staff for hosting and also to the Leitrim Players who presented on the night.

Feile peile na nOg 

Special thanks to SuperValue Ballinamore and everyone that supported the Sean O’Heslins U14 girls who were bag packing to raise funds for Feile peile na nOg. There was a great effort put in by the u14 girls and their families and they raised €960. The girls will be hosting Erins Own LGFC from Kilkenny in June and our u14 lads will be hosting JK Brakens from Tipperary in what promises to be a great weekend.
