Championship

It’s championship time this weekend with the first rounds of the Senior and Intermediate championship taking place. First up on Saturday will be our senior lads who will be in action at 19:00 in Drumshanbo with a match against Dromahaire followed by our intermediate lads who will be in Cloone at 1330 on Sunday with their opening match against Leitrim Gaels. We would like to wish all the players and management the best of luck for the championship and hope as many of you as possible can come out and support the lads.

Championship time is a busy time in our home pitch even when our own teams are not in action and this year is no different with two games on Saturday at 1730 and 1900 and one on Sunday at 1700, with all the games taking place we need help with stewarding whether helping with parking or in the shop and if you are available on either day please make yourself known to Alan Banks on +353 (86) 820 1001

Retirement

Everyone at the club would like to pass on our best wishes to Gay Prior on the announcement of his retirement this summer. Gay has been one of the pillars of our great club over the years as a player, supporter and as our main sponsor he has always been there supporting us through the good and bad with many’s a celebration had in the bar with a tremendous welcome, good food and Craic always on offer from Gay. Gay is a man in a million and we would all like to wish him well in his well deserved retirement.

Club Crest and Cairde Ceannabo

For the first time in many years the club is updating its crest. The old crest has been worn with pride for many years but it was felt that the time is right to revamp our logo.

The new layout incorporates the original S.O.H. into a sleek, modern design which works well on all backgrounds.

The new crest incorporates the S.O.H layout of the original crest along with the Club name and the Club motto (CEANN NA BÓ GO DEO). You will also notice in the centre of the crest the 3 arches which represent the main bridge in the town at the canal basin… One of Ballinamore’s most iconic landmarks. Did you know that the name Ballinamore derives from the Irish Béal an Átha Móir which literally means “The Mouth of the Big Ford”. The Ford was a crossing point on the river where the town was first established. Now this landmark crossing point is emblazoned on our new crest!

The crest is being launched in conjunction with our new supporters club, CAIRDE CEANNABO! Membership is now open for 2019 Cairde Ceannabo at a cost of €50. Members will receive a stylish new 2019 car sticker along with entry to a draw for 2 All-Ireland tickets complete with overnight accommodation for 2 in Buswells Hotel, Dublin. Membership is limited, so ask any member of the executive for details. CEANN NA BÓ GO DEO!
