Senior Championship

Its not often that you would say to players to celebrate after a defeat in the semi final of a championship, but celebrate they should. At the start of the campaign if you would have said we would reach this point, with a young team that had come up from intermediate, that would have been a high bar and one that many of us would have been delighted to reach. The players and coaches have brought the club on a magnificent journey these last few months, it’s been many a year since we would have seen as many fans travelling and cheering the lads on, we as fans have enjoyed every moment of that journey, the lads have played a great brand of exciting football and have been an inspiration to the young people of the town, you only must look at the demand for club gear to see it. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the players, management and supporters, you have done the club and Ballinamore proud- hold your heads High and shoulders straight because as sure as the sun rises tomorrow you will come back stronger.

Congratulations to Glencar Manor and good luck to them in the final

Well done to our u17 lads who were also in action today against Fenagh The match was played in slippery conditions with a very strong breeze. SOH had the advantage of the breeze in the first half and led 1-6 to 0-2 at half time. Unlucky to miss two good goal chances also. Fenagh came back stronger in second half and tied the game in the last couple of minutes.

 Oughteragh Gaels

Well done to all of our Minor Ladies defeated St Brigid’s by 1-11 to 0-11 in a fierce battle in Carrigallen on Friday evening. The game was played in a great spirit throughout, with both teams going hell for leather from the word go, and thankfully we managed to come out on top with Aoife McCartin’s first half goal ultimately separating the teams. Emma McGovern had an outstanding game in the middle of the field, scoring no less than 7 points, whilst Mollie Murphy and Emma Honeyman both did trojan work in defense. Grainne Casey also excelled in goal by making a number of brilliant saves, whilst Megan McGovern and Niamh Donohoe’s impact from the bench can’t be understated either. This win puts the team in a strong position to reach the county final and hopefully they’ll keep their good run of form going.

Team: Grainne Casey, Emma Honeyman, Kiera Masterson, Grainne Prior, Laoise Moran King, Abbi Sweeney, Mollie Murphy, Maeve Hamill, Emma McGovern (0-7), Sinead O’Neill (0-2), Ciara McGoldrick, Genevieve Canning, Aoife McCartin (1-0), Megan O’Rourke, Lily Bryne (0-1).
