Senior Championship Final 21 years in the Making!!

The excitement had been building all week in the run up to our semifinal clash with Mohill with good look wishes and images of BSOH flags flying high coming in from all Corners of the globe, we had messages from supporters in Australia, Canada, California, and the Middle East and all over Europe and Ireland.

It was fantastic to see such great support and well wishes from all our fans and to see the large numbers that were in attendance at the game with many players who took to the field in our last final 21 years ago there on the day to cheer on the new stars,. Support for these great lads is what we wanted and certainly what we got and we are sure it helped the lads in this stern test against Mohill.

Speaking to our own fans before the game there was certainly excitement and a bit of nervousness thrown in for good measure, it’s alright people saying your favorites but as many critics have told us you haven’t been tested, not something we would agree with and Mohill certainly brought a test on Sunday, a team with a wealth of experience at this level who have contested and won many a semifinal knocking out the Willies this season on the way to our game..

If you were to call Sunday a test its one the lads certainly passed with flying colors, they played with determination, believe, skill and heart showing that they were worthy of a place in a county final and certainly proving that they are ready to give it their all.

We are not going to call out any individual performances this was a fantastic team effort from everyone on the pitch and off; football is a squad game now a days and even those not involved on the day play their part on the training pitch helping the team prepare.

Some things have changed since we were last in a senior county final 21 years ago.
21 years ago there was no social media or internet, On Sunday we went live on social media for the last 10 minutes of the game and had over 150 Ballinamore fans from around the globe join us to watch the lads secure their deserved place in the County Final. Social media doesn’t make up for being at the game but it certainly helps when you’re on the other side of the world.

After Sundays result we could already see the messages of support coming in from around the world as Ballinamore fans near and far began to plan their trips home to support the lads in person, they’ll certainly be a few extra in attendance in a couple of weeks’ time !

Well done lads enjoy the buildup and good look in the final you deserve to be there. For all our fans home and away get the flags out and show your support.

Sponsorship

Special thanks also to Chef ! Niall and Karen Of Gallogly OutdoorCatering for their generous sponsorship of Murphy’s socks for the senior team

MacDiarmada Gaels

Our Black and Amber u15 teams were in action in the second round of their Championship matches at the weekend with the Black team at home to St Marys in a tough match in which we were comfortably beaten, all credit must go to the lads their heads did not drop and they kept fighting to the end and hopefully all the hard work they have put in on the training ground will pay off in their next game

Our Amber team followed on their first round win against Mohill with another impressive win this time against St Marys in Ballinamore on Saturday, the lads put in a good display and were deserving winners by a score of 5:06 to 3:09

Nursery, u9 and U11s

Our season came to an end on Monday evening with a fantastic party in the club rooms for all of our nursery , u9 and u11 kids, it was certainly noisy with a sea of yellow every ware to be seen. The children have been fantastic all season and it was fitting to give them a good send off, special thanks to the senior players that attended, it certainly gave the kids and I am sure the players a great buzz after Sundays result to hear the chants of Ballinamore reverberating around the stand. Special thanks as ever to all the Mentors and Coaches who give up their time to train the kids and to everyone that helped out over the season and on Monday night
